A unit for fibre thickness, shown as D in bag fabric specs.

Denier measures the linear mass of a fibre: the weight in grams of 9,000 metres of yarn. Fabric specs write it with a D, for example 500D or 1000D.

A higher denier usually means thicker yarn and a heavier, more abrasion-resistant fabric, although weave and coating matter too.
