What it is
Timascus is a layered titanium material, sometimes called titanium Damascus. Sheets of different titanium alloys are stacked and diffusion-bonded under heat and pressure, then twisted, cut or forged to create a pattern. Because each alloy reacts differently to heat and anodizing, the layers can show different colors, producing flowing multicolor patterns.
How it feels in your EDC
Timascus feels much like Titanium: light, warm and comfortable for all-day carry. Its real appeal is visual. Blues, golds, purples and bronzes swirl across the surface, and since the pattern comes from the layered material itself, every piece is one of a kind. It is often used for buttons, inlays, clips and statement pieces.
Care & aging
The colors on Timascus usually come from heat treatment or anodizing, which creates a thin oxide layer on the surface. Daily carry and abrasion can slowly soften or fade those colors, especially on edges and high spots. Wipe it with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive polishes or harsh chemicals. Some makers can recolor Timascus, so check the maker's care advice before trying.
