Ultra-hard black coating that shrugs off everyday scratches.

What it is

DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) is a very thin, very hard carbon coating applied to metal in a vacuum chamber. Its structure shares some properties with diamond, which gives it high hardness and low friction. In EDC, it usually appears as a deep black or charcoal finish on Stainless Steel and Titanium. Coating thickness and process depend on the maker.

How it feels in your EDC

DLC gives a sleek, dark, modern look and feels smooth and slick in hand. Because the coating is so thin, it keeps the crisp lines and texture of the surface underneath, whether that is bead blasted, stonewashed or polished. Compared with black oxide or paint-like coatings, it is generally much more resistant to everyday scratches.

Care & aging

DLC is highly scratch resistant, but it is not indestructible. A hard drop or deep gouge can chip through to the metal beneath, and that usually cannot be repaired at home. Many owners accept small edge wear as character. Wipe it with a soft cloth and mild soap, and avoid abrasive polishes, which cannot restore the coating.

是什么

DLC(类钻碳,Diamond-Like Carbon)是在真空腔中施加到金属上的极薄、极硬碳涂层。
