Peak beam intensity, which tells you how far a light throws.

Candela (cd) measures luminous intensity, the brightness of the beam in its most intense direction. It can be measured with a lux meter at one metre from the light.

A high candela figure means a tighter, longer-reaching beam ("throw"), while a lower figure with the same lumens means a wider flood.
