What it is
Laser engraving uses a focused laser beam to mark a surface by removing a thin layer of material or changing its color. It can create logos, text, serial numbers, patterns and fine artwork with high precision, and it is well suited to personalization. Depth, contrast and detail depend on the material, the laser and the maker.
How it feels in your EDC
Most laser engraving feels smooth or only slightly textured under your fingertips. On anodized Aluminum or coated parts, it removes the colored layer to reveal bright metal beneath, creating strong contrast. On Titanium and Stainless Steel, a laser can also create dark or colored marks. It adds identity and detail without changing how the piece works.
Care & aging
Laser engraving is generally more durable than printed graphics, but shallow surface marks can fade with heavy wear or abrasive polishing. Clean engraved areas with a soft cloth or soft brush and mild soap. Avoid scouring pads and polishing compounds on the engraving, and follow the care advice for the base material and finish.
