Charges in light and glows in the dark; easy to find at night.
What it is
Lume is a glow-in-the-dark material that absorbs light and releases it slowly in the dark. Modern lume is usually based on strontium aluminate pigment, mixed into resin or plastic and used as inlays, filled grooves, beads or buttons. It is different from tritium, which glows without charging. Brightness, color and glow time depend on the pigment quality, amount and the maker.
How it feels in your EDC
Lume adds a fun, practical touch, helping you spot your gear in a dark bag, drawer or nightstand. It glows brightest right after charging in sunlight or under a bright light, then gradually fades over time. In daylight, lume usually looks pale green, blue or off-white, so it can also serve as a subtle accent color.
Care & aging
Lume can be recharged again and again by exposing it to light. Keep it clean with a soft cloth and mild soap, because dirt can dull the glow. Avoid strong solvents, high heat and abrasive polishing, which can scratch or cloud resin-based lume. Its charge-and-glow performance may gradually change over many years.
