Light, budget-friendly and worry-free for everyday carry.

What it is

Plastic is a broad family of synthetic materials. In EDC, common types include ABS, nylon, polycarbonate and the resins used in 3D printing. They differ from high-performance engineering plastics like PEEK and PEI, which handle more heat and wear but cost more. The exact plastic depends on the maker, so properties can vary widely.

How it feels in your EDC

Plastic is very light and feels warm in hand. It can be molded or printed into almost any shape and color, which makes it ideal for entry-level pieces, prototypes, cases and fun color options. It does not have the weight or cool touch of metal, so it suits people who want something easy to carry or try out.

Care & aging

Plastic does not rust, but it is softer than metal and can scratch, scuff or wear with daily carry. Some types may fade or become brittle after long exposure to sunlight or heat, so avoid leaving it in a hot car. Clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap, and avoid strong solvents such as acetone.
