What it is
PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is a high-performance engineering plastic used in aerospace, medical and industrial parts. It is known for strength, wear resistance, heat resistance and low friction. In EDC, it is often machined into liners, washers, spacers and inner parts, usually in a natural tan or black color. The exact grade depends on the maker.
How it feels in your EDC
PEEK is light and has a smooth, slightly waxy feel. Placed between metal parts, such as inside a slider, it can help parts glide more smoothly and soften the contact between metal surfaces. That can change how a piece sounds and feels, but the final feel still depends on the whole design, including fit, magnets and tolerances.
Care & aging
PEEK does not rust and resists most everyday chemicals. With heavy use, liners and washers can slowly wear, which may gradually change the feel; many makers offer replacement parts. Keep it clean of grit, which can scratch both the PEEK and the metal around it. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh solvents.
