What it is
G10 is a glass-fiber composite: layers of woven fiberglass cloth are soaked in epoxy resin, then pressed and cured under heat into a hard, dense sheet. It was first developed for industrial and electrical uses, and it is now a staple EDC material for scales, spacers, liners and accents. It comes in many solid colors and layered patterns.
How it feels in your EDC
G10 is light, rigid and feels warmer than metal in hand. Depending on how the maker finishes it, the surface can be smooth and glossy or textured for extra grip. Layered or multicolor G10 can be machined to reveal stripes and contours. It is a practical way to add color and cut weight in a piece that also uses metal parts.
Care & aging
G10 resists water and most everyday chemicals, and it does not rust or patina. Over time, a textured surface may smooth slightly where your fingers rest, and glossy surfaces can show fine scuffs. Clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap. Like Carbon Fiber, avoid sanding or cutting it yourself, because the dust is an irritant.
