Warm, organic grip that wears in smooth with use.

What it is

Micarta is a composite made by soaking layers of fabric or paper, such as linen, canvas or denim, in resin, then pressing and curing them into a solid block. The name started as a brand but is now widely used for this type of material. The fabric and resin choices depend on the maker, which is why Micarta can look anything from smooth and solid to layered and organic.

How it feels in your EDC

Micarta is light and feels warm, soft-edged and slightly textured in hand, closer to a natural material than to metal or glossy plastic. Many people find it grippy and comfortable, especially when it has a matte finish. It is often used for scales, inlays, buttons and accents on pieces that also use metal.

Care & aging

Micarta does not rust, but with handling it can absorb skin oils and gradually darken, building a unique, worn-in look. Many collectors enjoy that character. Clean it with a soft cloth and mild soap. If you prefer to keep it lighter, wipe it more often. Like G10 and Carbon Fiber, avoid sanding or cutting it yourself, as the dust can irritate.
