Golden glow and satisfying heft; patinas with every carry.
What it is
Brass is an alloy of Copper and zinc. The zinc shifts Copper's reddish tone toward a warm gold and makes the metal harder and easier to machine cleanly. At roughly 8.5 g/cm³, it sits close to Copper in density. The exact mix depends on the maker, which is why brass can range from pale yellow to deep gold.
How it feels in your EDC
Brass has a dense, satisfying weight and a smooth, warm feel in hand. Many people like its classic, vintage look in coins, sliders, beads and buttons. It holds crisp machined details and textures such as knurling well, while overall feel still depends on the design.
Care & aging
Brass reacts with air and skin oils and slowly develops a patina, usually toward deeper antique gold and brown tones. It tends to change more gradually than Copper. Like Copper, it can leave a temporary metallic smell on hands. To restore the shine, use a brass polish; to keep the aged look, wipe it with a dry cloth and let it be.
