Pre-aged warm tones on copper and brass; deepens as you carry.
What it is
Patina is the change in color and surface that some metals develop as they react with air, moisture and skin oils. Copper, Brass and Bronze deepen toward browns and sometimes greens, Silver darkens toward gray and black, and Carbon Steel turns gray to dark. Patina can form naturally with use, or a maker can create it in advance with heat or chemicals, often called a forced patina.
How it feels in your EDC
Patina does not change how a piece feels in your hand, but it changes how it looks over time. High-contact areas often stay brighter while recesses darken, highlighting textures, engravings and edges. Many collectors see a natural patina as a record of how they carry, making each piece more personal the longer they own it.
Care & aging
To let patina develop, simply carry the piece and wipe it with a dry cloth. To slow it, keep the piece clean and dry and store it away from humidity. To remove it, use a polish made for that metal, though this resets the look. On Carbon Steel, a stable dark patina can help slow rust, but red or orange rust spots should be cleaned off early.
