Bright, premium shine; darkens into a vintage look over time.

What it is

Silver is a bright, white precious metal valued for its luster for thousands of years. Pure silver is very soft, so EDC pieces usually use an alloy such as sterling silver (92.5% silver, mostly Copper for the rest), though the exact alloy depends on the maker. You will often see it in beads, coins, inlays and small accents.

How it feels in your EDC

At roughly 10.4 g/cm³, Silver is denser than Copper and Stainless Steel, so even a small piece has a satisfying weight. It feels smooth and cool at first, then warms quickly in hand. Because it is relatively soft, it picks up fine scratches and marks with daily carry, which many collectors see as part of its character.

Care & aging

Silver reacts with sulfur in the air and gradually tarnishes, turning gray to black, especially in recesses and engravings. Many people like how this darkening highlights details. To keep the aged look, simply wipe it with a dry cloth. To restore the bright shine, use a silver polishing cloth, and store it in a dry place to slow tarnish.
