What it is
Wood brings a natural, organic touch to EDC. Makers often choose dense hardwoods such as ebony, walnut or rosewood, or stabilized wood, which is soaked with resin under pressure so it is harder, more stable and less affected by moisture. The species and treatment depend on the maker, and every piece shows its own grain.
How it feels in your EDC
Wood is light and feels warm and soft in hand, never cold like metal. Its grain gives each piece a one-of-a-kind look, and it pairs beautifully with metals like Brass, Copper or Titanium. It is often used for scales, inlays, beads and accents, where it adds a calm, natural character to a carry.
Care & aging
With handling, wood absorbs skin oils and slowly develops a soft sheen and deeper color. Unstabilized wood can swell, crack or fade if it gets soaked or sits in strong sunlight, so keep it dry and out of heat. Wipe it with a dry cloth; an occasional light coat of wood oil or wax can help, as the maker recommends. Stabilized wood needs less care.
