Adjustable Resistance

At a glance

Short name

Written by: FZEDC

A way to change how stiff a fidget feels, often by tightening a screw against a spring-loaded ball.

What it is

Adjustable resistance lets you change the force needed to move a coin or slider. A common design uses a set screw that compresses a spring behind a detent ball; others swap springs or magnets.

Why it matters

It lets one fidget suit different moods or settings. Do not over-tighten: too much preload can wear the track or seat the ball too hard.

Also known as: Tension Adjustment, Adjustable Detent,
