Quick-Release Design is our umbrella name for screwless and tool-free construction. Parts may be held by magnets, snap fits, twist locks, press fits or captured pins. Makers describe it as zero-screw, screwless or magnetic locking; we file all of these here.
Why it matters
It matters for cleaning, swapping plates or buttons, and tuning. Check what holds it together: magnetic retention is convenient but can release under a hard knock, while a mechanical lock is more secure but slower to open.
