A polymer used here for the internal friction liner.

What it is

Nylon is a family of tough, slightly flexible engineering plastics known for wear resistance and low friction. It is used widely for gears, bushings and sliding parts. In EDC, it often appears as internal liners, washers and spacers that sit between moving metal parts, and as material for cases, straps and lanyards. The exact type depends on the brand.

How it feels in your EDC

As an internal friction liner, Nylon softens the contact between moving parts and can give movement a smooth, controlled resistance. It also damps some of the sharp metal-on-metal sound. You rarely see it from the outside, but it can noticeably shape how a piece slides, stops and sounds.

Care & aging

Nylon does not rust and resists most oils, but it absorbs some moisture, which can slightly change its fit and feel. With heavy use, liners slowly wear and may need replacing; many brands offer spare parts. Keep it free of grit and avoid strong acids and harsh solvents. Wipe it with a dry cloth.
