Hard, wear-resistant balls; distinct from pure tungsten and steel.
What it is
Cemented tungsten carbide combines hard carbide particles with a metallic binder, commonly cobalt or nickel. Manufacturers also call cemented-carbide balls tungsten steel balls. It is not pure tungsten or ordinary steel; grades and binders differ.
How it feels in your EDC
Hardness and wear resistance suit precision ball applications. Ball diameter, surface finish and the mating track determine fit and feedback. A material label alone does not establish compatibility.
Care & aging
Keep precision balls clean and use the size specified for the mechanism. Do not assume that hardness makes a part impact-proof. Reference: Zhuzhou UKO, Tungsten Carbide Balls.
