A straight taper from spine to edge, a strong all-round blade geometry.

A flat grind tapers the blade evenly from the spine (full flat) or from a lower line down to the edge. It is the most common general-purpose grind on pocket knives.

It balances slicing ability and strength, and it keeps cutting well as the blade is sharpened over the years.
