Fine linear grain with a clean, precision-tool look.
What it is
A brushed finish is made by drawing an abrasive belt, pad or wire brush across metal in one direction. This leaves fine, parallel lines, often called the grain, across the surface. Compared with satin, brushed lines are usually more visible and directional. Grit, pressure and pattern depend on the maker.
How it feels in your EDC
Brushed metal has a clean, technical, industrial look, and the grain catches light as you turn the piece. It feels smooth in hand, and the directional texture can emphasize clean lines and flat faces. It is a common finish on Stainless Steel and Aluminum, and it often contrasts well with polished or bead-blasted areas.
Care & aging
Scratches that run along the grain tend to blend in, while scratches across it are more noticeable. Over time, everyday carry adds a soft, used character. Wipe it with a soft cloth in the direction of the grain. If you touch it up, use a fine abrasive pad lightly with the grain, or ask the maker for advice to avoid patchy areas.
